What is the difference between 'Mega Mail' and 'Mass Email'.

I haven't used these two functions yet and just would like a brief description in what they do. Do they email to the users subscribed email address or is this mail sent as a PM? Is there confirmations? And can you use formating like HTML or BBCode when creating the content?

Mass email is phpbb's default while mega mail is more advanced alowwing batches and bcc.
