1. I am trying to hide the RSS Block. I don't need it and need to make it disappear. How do I do that?
2. I need to hide the INFO Block. I don't need it and need to make it disappear. How do I do that?
3. I need to add a link to the News Block and make it accessible to ALL. How do I edit the News Block?
Thanks,
David
SOLVED Hiding RSS Block & Info Block And Editing The News Block
Subject: Re: Hiding RSS Block & Info Block And Editing The News Block
So many questions.
These answers are assuming you are taking about your menu and you are using the dyn menu [Dynamic Menu] block.
The solution to number one and two:
Go to your CMS menu (cms.php). Click the Dynamic Menu icon at the top. Click the edit icon next to your menu below.
Find the category you wish to disable and click it's edit button. Find Status: and tick the disabled box.
It looks like you figured out how to add a news link because I see the news category in your menu.
Let us know if you have any other questions. :)

Chaotic,
Thank you for your assistance.
I followed your suggestion and I use FIREFOX (not that this makes a difference but, you'll see later on). Remember, I am wanting to DISABLE the INFO BOX and the RSS FEED BOX not just the contents.
This is where I am at. Note: This does not have it icon pics.
CMS // ID // Actions // Name // Description
// 1 // Edit links in this menu Delete // Main Links // Main Links Block
I assume you wanted me to click on ACTIONS > EDIT. When I click on that I receive this:
Add/Edit Menu Item screen.
So instead, I click on NAME = Main Links. That brings me to the Menu page. When I scroll down to the Info block, I click on the EDIT icon (the icon with the pencil) which is to the left of the INFO title. That brings me to the Add/Edit Menu Item.
Category name = Info
Language var (specified in lang_dyn_menu.php) = Info
Status = Enabled X Disabled
Icon = ./images/menu/information.png
Category description Info = Info
Permission = Administrators
I click on SUBMIT and then open IE on and go to the page (without being logged in) and INFO is still there. Also, I still do not know how to remove the RSS Feed.
Thanks,
David

It probably wouldn't hurt to post some screenshots next time, .
Check this out.
Go to your dynamic menu on cms.php:
Click the edit or delete button on the actual category:
If you don't want to delete the category, just disable it so it isn't visible:
If any of your edits/deletions are not working, you are using the site links block. I personally recommend using the dynamic menu block because you can edit it in your CMS instead of editing a file manually. You can switch your menu by finding the page your site links block is on and changing it to dyn menu [Dynamic Menu]. Don't forget to change the menu in your global blocks too.
If you insist on using the site links block, you'll need to open: your-theme/nav_quick_links.tpl and read this: Nav-Links Dynamic Menu - Modifying - Removing - Adding Links
Let me know if this worked!

That brings me here:

These are my settings.

But the Info Block still shows up? I do not want it to display for anyone.
Thanks,

Screenshots 4 and 5 are the right way, but you are using the site links block.

That is the second time you have suggested that I am using Site Link Blocks. I apologize for my ignorance but, I have no clue what you are saying. I want to do it the way it is suppose to be done or at least the way you are explaining to me. Please tell me where to go, click on, change, etc (step by step).
Thank you,
David

You are not ignorant, but just a little new to Icy Phoenix. I had the same trouble as you when I first started using this CMS.
Here is how you remove the site links block and add the dyn menu [Dynamic Menu] block.
Go to your cms.php (CMS Management):
Scroll down the list of pages until you get to customized pages. If you haven't renamed any of these pages, edit the pages I list below.
Find the 3 Columns page and click the Configure Blocks icon to the left of it:
The way your setup looks may look a little different than mine because I use the CMS ADV MOD. The principle is still the same though.
Search for your menu block. When you have found it, click the edit button next to it:
You should now see the block edit screen. Simply find dyn menu [Dynamic Menu] in the Block File drop-down menu and click submit with the same settings in my picture:
The next screen asks a few things like your Menu ID and if you want there to be a show/hide switch on your menu. Your default dyn menu [Dynamic Menu] ID is 1 so enter the number in the first field. After editing these two fields, click submit:
Congratulations, your new menu will be on your index page!
To change the menu on your forum pages, try doing this exact same thing, but in a different area in your CMS Management. The page you want to look for is named global blocks and it should be at the top of the page:
Just find your menu and edit it like we did up above.
You will now be using the dynamic menu block instead of the site links block!
Let me know if this worked for you or not. :mryellow:

WHEW!!!!
Thank you so much.
Now, moving right along....LOL
Last problem is dealing with the Dynamic Menu > News > News Source. News Source is a page that I somehow managed to add. I still am not really sure how I did it but, it's done. The problem that I am having is that when you click on News Source is opens a new browser window. I do not want a new browser window, I want it to open in the same window.
Thanks,
David
PS. Your explanation with ScreenShots were very easy to follow once, we were on the same sheet of music.

Your site looks like it's coming along quite nicely and I guarantee you'll love the dynamic menu.
It looks like you have that link set as an external link in your menu.
Go back in your dynamic menu and edit that link. Here is an example of how you could set it up. Just don't forget to click NO for External link. Also notice the shorthand version of the link in the picture.

Mmmmm, Not sure how that happened. I could have sworn I had it set to NO on external link.
As usual, you were right
The sight is not mine, I am helping a customer set it up.
My sight is: Blair County Conservatives
Do I need to close this out now and if I do, how do I do that?
Thanks for all your help. It was really appreciated.
