Post subject: A New RSS Mod For XS
I have made a new RSS mod for phpBB XS so I thought I would submit it here to see if anyone likes it.

With this RSS mod you can bring news feeds from other websites like Yahoo.com phpBBXS.eu your Blogs or any place that offers a RSS feed. The RSS news page is capable of displaying images from your news feeds like feeds from Yahoo.com and you can also build categories on the RSS page to display your feeds in a structured order.

Hello difus,

First is ease of use. Then the categories on the news page plus the addition of two news blocks on the portal and there are a scrolling headers and footer.

You can see one on www.traderscommunity.com I am rebuilding this website adding in dynamic finacial information and many other kinds of mods to the XS system.

Hello Mighty Gorgon,

Thanks,

I hope the users can benifit from this mod, it may just add a little more flexability to there system.

In regards to TC keep your eyes on it as I am working it all out but there will be charts and many other things that will all be controled from the ACP and the users control panel.

Any suggestions on what you like to trade and what websites you like to watch are always welcome. Plus the toolbar I built has the markets ticker and a RSS manager built into it but a new one is coming out with a massive amount of tools just for traders. You may like it.

Hi Gary, good to see you're still around. Whats the difference between version 2.0 and the last one you posted under phpbbxs.com?

@Difus, the phpbbxs rss newsfeed reader didn't work properly on the homepage / portal.php (or index.php under phpbbxs, although really its portal.php from Integramod thats been renamed). There were several discussions on phpbbxs.com about this issue, the problem being related to the way/order in which variables are parsed to different blocks in IMPortal... I had a quick and dirty fix of using a standalone php newsreader script, parsing via <iframe>, and then Gary came along with this cool mod which is more integrated.

Gary, I have had your credit since 3-4 days ago. I see now, after your post that the credit goes off when I have add the "Pro Advertising Banner". But was just an error editing the template. For which reason I have to remove your credit? See all my whole site and tell me if you see some credit removed..... I have to choose yours for any reason?
Anyway now I have check the .tpl and the credits come back again.

P.S.: when and how you have contact me? I never have received any mail or PM about you... sorry, for my english and if I was too rude, but I prefer other way to solve similar questions.

Bye, and sorry about the inconvenience.

Hello andrea75,

I see today the credit is there, the only reason I have asked here is because I did try to handle it another way and that was by contacting you about it twice so if you didn't receive the emails from your contact us form on your website I have just found a bug for you to take care of You have mentioned you have had my credit since 3-4 days ago and if I remember correct I contacted you a week ago about it but I may be mistaken.

I didn't mean to make this all out like you are some hack going around removing links intentionally off others work but how am I suppose to know? I myself also remove links when there is a security risk in the mod so people can’t perform searches and locate all of the systems they can deface until a fix is found. When I contacted you the first time I figured you where doing something with your forums that mistakenly removed the credits and I was just notifying you, with no response after the second time I posted here.

But none of this matters as the link is there, all is forgotten about. Thanks for the response.

Really strange... the contact form works fine... I received a lot of mails from it without problems... :nea:

Anyway I'm happy that the question is solved!

I can assure that Andrea is a serious person, and you can trust him. If your copyright was missed, it was just an error.

In any case, I usually don't do anything against people who have removed copyrights... the only measure is no support... I don't care of them...

Hello Mighty Gorgon,

Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year.

As I mentioned before I didn't mean to make him out as some bad guy, when I first visited his site I saw he had everyone’s credits there not a single one gone except for mine and when I looked at the news page I noticed he had some Google ads there so I figured he made a simple mistake in the tpl file I really didn't think he was dissing me on purpose. Only after I sent a second email did I feel a need to ask that question here.

I think it was rather cool of him to respond very quickly and straighten everything out. As I also mentioned before I sometimes remove credits when security becomes a factor and although it may not have an immediate effect in the SERP's if it takes a while before a fix is found it will keep some away. So when I saw the credits gone I had just figured someone was doing something to there forums since I don’t know andrea75 my email was kind of to let them know that I know of the forums.

I have run into this problem before with another XL modded forums owner I won’t mention anyone specific but I and another well know modder created a RSS for that system and the owner took it upon themselves to remove me from the credits so I just keep an eye out now.

But this obviously isn’t the same as andrea75 he responded very quickly and showed he manages a professional forums giving credit where credit is due.

If there is anyway we can even remove these posts about this I am all for it, as I don’t want anyone reading this thinking he is a hack and not visit his website.

@andrea75 I don’t know why the contact us form didn’t reach you that is strange, I sent 2 messages through the form, weird.
O by the way I like the weather mods you have done I had made a weather block mod also a while back but it was small for the right or left side display not for the center area as you have made yours. Nicely done.

you have to CHMOD to 777, give writable permissions to the Cache folder in your site root.
