I'd just set my forum, but this message appears in the top of the site:

I read some answer, recommending reupload this file from my PC to my FTP, but it didn't work. The message still there.

There was any errors uploading, so I don't know what to do. The site doesn't open normally now.

I suggested you search because sometimes / most times that's the quickest way to get answers here.

And probably the best way is to use "Advanced" Search because there are not an over-abundance of helpers here..

Anyway, if you change your .htaccess as advised in the "other" post, you should be good to go..

I understand, trust me... I used the search but my English is not good, and it's very hard to me to use this option. I participate in a Spanish Forum and I usually find help just using the search.

Ok, my friend.... I installed the forum again, and the line appears:

I read the post with the answer, and tried to add this line:
php_value zlib.output_compression off

into the .htaccess file, but I'm not sure where... There are many lines, and I have to be sure to add the line in the correct place.

Well, I added this line at the first place, saved the file, reuploaded it, but it is the same, the line still there.

Just make it the first line.

It should have been put in there and commented out for this release - just to make things easier, but it appears that it was overlooked.

Maybe MG will add it once he catches up with this thread.

As the 2.2 version (the one you have) is the last version anyway.

You may need to clear your cache's even if you have to do it manually.

I did it. But the problem still there...

There is in the FTP another .htaccess file, not in the forum directory, but in the public_html directory.

The content of this another file is:

make a file php.ini and add this line to it

php_value zlib.output_compression off

And upload it to the root folder of icy phoenix.

Did you upload everything in binary only?

If you are using FTP to make the edits - Are you re-uploading your edits?

Should I make the file with the note bloc? And how can I save this file, if this is a text file with .txt extension? I made it and saved in my pc, but I can't find it in the folder that I saved it.

You should be able to make the file with notepad or wordpad and actually the proper way is to do it like this, not like I suggested the first time.

So make the contents like so..



And I can't duplicate this error? So I really don't know what is happening?

Can you contact your IP and ask them what the status of this php_value zlib.output_compression is in their php.ini configuration?

The only other option is to see if MG or Informpro have any other ways of fixing it?

Well, I tried both ways:

With this line → zlib.output_compression=Off

And this another one → php_value zlib.output_compression off

Anything doesn't work, the errors lines still there.

But when I added the phpi.ini file, and typed my forum URL in the browser, the first windows was this:



And then click in the IcyPhoenix link, I can come into the forum.

My friend, I couldn't find where could I change the language

ACP/Main Settings/Various Settings/Change Lang = yes

oooh, maybe this is the problem... Tomorrow morning I will looking for another hosting.

I honestly think that they have it set that the "global ini" file can't be modified because what we tried should have worked.

Their "FREE" is how much they can make out of it and I can't see them hosting something like an icyphoenix forum without you actually paying for it.

I could be wrong - I hope I am.

But I doubt it..

Good news!! I changed the hosting (free also, the byethost) and you know what???? It worked!!!

I suspected it was a hosting problem as those type of sites limit very much what you can do.

Well yes and no,

Errors on one free server - Ajax Chat doesn't work on another one.

Cristianita is trying to get IP to run on free servers and I advised her that Limun and I tried some free-servers and that every one of them was a problem one way or another.

So she's re-thinking her priorities.

That should be debugged... can you do that?

No, sorry. Investing time trying to debug a weird condition in some cheap/misconfigured hosts for IP isn't very interesting, especially since we tell people with that kind of issue to use other software...

I agree with Informpro

I think that adding this line (# php_value zlib.output_compression off) to the beginning of .htaccess would be enough just to make it easier in future should someone want to try a free server and the same problem comes up.

But I think it would be wise to avoid support for Free-Servers full stop! Because from what I've read about them they utilise "Old" versions of PHP and SQL because that's what their free crap runs under and they are very reluctant to modernize anything because they would kill most of their victims customers.

In some situations I believe that the "Global" ini is set so that it can't be modified, else what we tried with Christianita should have worked - But - - - I can't say definitely as I really don't know enough about it.
