:mryellow:

I'm looking for a new LCD monitor and came across this while checking the specifications of one I have in mind.

I wonder if they will let me clone this theme layout for IP? As I particularly like the nav-bar at the top. Something I was going to do anyway when I get my next burst of inspiration to do something different from the usual IP layout. :mricy:

great looking theme... it would be good to see different layouts for ICY i like the way joomla do it...

even if they didn't let you clone it you could still get ideas on something new...

That elusive burst of inspiration Mike, that's the problem. :mrviolet:

Maybe when Icy has been "Patched" some more, I'll seriously consider it. ;)

I ending up buying the monitor I was researching, and dammit! that theme is now a different colour. :mryellow:

I've got three monitors - Two LCD and one CRT (different boxes) and not one of them bear any resemblance to each other when it comes to colour no matter what parameters I change. Even my laptop and a 40inch LCD TV differ again. :(

Makes one wonder what the viewer actually sees (colour wise) to what we see when making them.

One day I'll take a camera shot of all the screens using the same theme, and maybe ask "Which colour is the real one"? :mricy:

That defers from builder to builder.

You can take LG, Dell etc they´re all different.

But if you take 2 from the same compny you see the same colors normaly

The problem is that there are no benchmarks to set colours for individual screens when using the web, not even such a thing as "Web-safe colours" for a guide, and come to think of it, I have no idea of how one could ever be created.

But! I prefer to use the CRT if I'm making something, and what happens after that is pot luck. :mricy:

my wife uses a really old hp laptop everything looks like sh** on it... colours are really bland... every theme i look at on it... does not look the way it does on my clear crisp screen...

definitely makes you wonder what others are seeing things like

Yep, that's another problem when designing something. For example, I couldn't see most images of the frozen phoenix theme because my screen was too bright LOL.

But that's not a thing you can control. Every person has different brightness/contrast configurations. Nvidia and ATi have different default settings and every manufacturer will configure their products differently. And you can change the display settings on the monitor, on your graphics card driver, etc so there aree many possibilities. One can only hope they see it right.

Yes I totally agree on that... this is the main issue I have to deal with when designing... when I style with my laptop I have to change all colors when I see the results on my desktop...

That is not true... there are some tools both hardware and software that are used by professional designers which help to set the correct contrast and luminance.

For example have a look here:

Wow! MG, I'm wrong again, and you are truly such a wealth of information. :P

I still prefer the "Old" way - "If the skin colour looks OK, it's near enough. :mrviolet:

I'm also still waiting for a reply email from the BIG boss of the website as to whether I can use the artwork or not.
