i am running into all sorts of troubles on windows 7.

I use it regularly on windows 7 x86 and does not give me no problem, if you have installed other local servers you have to uninstall them.

Wampp or Xampp won´t run on win 7 x64

I'm not sure about Wampp but Xampp definitely runs on win7 64 bit

I haven´t found an 64 bit version still.

I ran into serveral probs myself trying Xampp on my x64 and finaly moved to Appserv.

even appserv is running only in x86 mode.

and you can´t run them at the same time with skype, since they use same port´s.

No there is no special 64bit version but it will run on w7 X64 Spydie, BTW the first poster did not mention what version of windows7 he was using.

I've got it installed for local testing purpose

I think this would be a good install guide:

Getting XAMPP to work on Windows 7 (64-bit)

XAMPP will work on Windows 7 (64-bit), because that's what I use. Here are the steps to install it:

1. Download the ZIP file instead of the the EXE file, and save it to your "Downloads" folder.

2. Using 7-zip, or WinRAR, or WinZip, or whatever compression tool you prefer, right-click on the xampp-win32-1.7.x.zip file and select "Extract here" it doesn't matter where you downloaded the ZIP file to, it will create a new folder called "xampp" and extract all contents within it.

3. After extracting the ZIP file, move the newly created "xampp" folder from "Downloads" to "C:\"
Note: It MUST be in a top-level directory such as "C:\", NOT within another folder such as "C:\Program Files (x86)."

4. Next, go to "Start > Control Panel > User Accounts," and turn off the User Account Control (UAC). This will cause problems if left turned on. If you aren't familiar with how to do this, there are plenty of tutorials on the web to show you how.

5. Now, navigate to "C:\xampp" and right-click "xampp-control.exe" and in the dialog pop up select: "Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)"

6. Double-click on the new XAMPP Control Desktop shortcut which opens up the XAMPP Control Panel Application. There you will see a column of "Start" buttons, select the one for MySQL and the one for Apache... you should now see a green "Running" indicator.

7. Open up your Web Browser, and type in http://localhost in which you should be presented with the XAMPP splash screen... Success!!!

hm works.

it´s probably, because the installer moves the files to program files (x86) and not to the root.

let´s see, if it run´s like service

TopoMotoV3X, this is very very nice!!!

As a side-note I wonder how hard it would be to make a "Microsoft Web Platform Installer" package? I will look into that if you guys might be interested.

If I/we did that we could possibly list IcyPhoenix on Microsoft's website as others are listed at the following link.

..If MG is ok with that of course.

Nice idea Hans, I try to figure out how to create it and I keep myself ready for final release.

Xampp is working fine for me on Win7 64bit
The only think to know is, that you do NOT install it on C: (where windows is)
Use a different partition like d:

Now I'm getting lost

XAMPP I do not know, but this XAMPP Lite works well on Win7 64-bit, the only incompatibility with the TeamViewer is that I use for the iphone, I install it in C: no problem.

Subject: Re: SERVER - Icy Phoenix Local Server Setup For Windows
the incompatibilities come from Apache, Teamviewer and Skype using port 80

so you have to change some ini files to change port´s on apache and skype

Subject: Re: SERVER - Icy Phoenix Local Server Setup For Windows
Skype change its port automatically if you start it after you started your webserver. Else, it's in the options "use the port 80 and 443 as alternatives".

I am glad you like it! I was hoping not to sound like I don't appreciate your work. There is actually a phpBB installer there you can study (or maybe reverse-engineer) if you have not noticed.

I just wanted to add that XAMPP works fine on Win 7 @ 64bit... I'm only using XAMPP.
