Trying To Change Menu Links Block.
Subject: Trying To Change Menu Links Block.
I changed my Main Menu Links block and it doesn't show the changes if I use 3 column layout but it does if I use 2 column layout. Is this normal?
Subject: Re: Trying To Change Menu Links Block.

That happens to be the issue in most cases. I don't understand why the sitemap block is still in IP, LOL.

I plan on writing a doc on this next...for IP 1.3
Basically each menu block either default or user created has a number issued. You have the default one which is a 1, and say you decide to create one. If it's the next one you create, it's called 2. So when you add a block to a given page, it gives you the flexibility to call out one or both of the menus....
Also, it's the way IP is set up. You change to the 2 column, or use the 3 column default setup. Say you are using the 3 column, and you want to go to a 2 column. The page id changes, so therefore, you have to add all your blocks to the 2nd page (2 column TPL), because by default that one doesn't have any additional blocks.
As a side note: If you want a full custom menu block, just create your own, with your own links, and if you want to use that one, when you add a block, just start a new block and choose the dynamic menu block. Then say if you have a menu you have customized, and the number of it is 2, then all you have to do is call out the 2 when it asks you which menu you wish to have for the block.

No problem. A lot of peeps have helped me around here, it's fun for me to help when I know the answer.
Here is my (dynamic menu) id=2 which I now use as the default on all my pages, and on a couple of pages, I use the standard id=1 menu (defaut) under the id=2.
This is a properly prepared dynamic menu block that I use:
As much as I love I.P. it's become not just a CMS, but a Lifestyle!!!!

I was working on a doc for dynamic menu creation and Chaotic pointed out that he already has done one.
A lot of questions are answered here

It´s just that the last time i´ve looked there, the update for how to switch was´nt there.
so it got me crazy playing around with the menu and not seeing any changes, if you understand me.
Just had a Look again on that DOC, and now it´s quiet clearly explained.
It´s just that i did´nt see the how to switch option explained before.

Yea, I learn a lot of stuff from trial and error, and consulting the docs, but there's a lot of "nuts and bolts" of how this great CMS works.
It's like reading a book. You can read, read, read, but once you do it, it's easier to figure out. Sometimes I try something and discover something else I didn't know!!
